Coming Soon: New MXPX Album!

Pop punk band MXPX have launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for the recording and mastering of their new record. This will mark the band’s 10th studio album in a career that spans over 26 years.

The Kickstarter page lists a goal of $50,000 to cover the costs of worldwide marketing, hiring a sound engineer, and creating the premium rewards for all backers. As of this posting, the band has reached over $90,000 with the campaign.

MXPX is offering some pretty neat premium rewards for fans who donate. From basic items such as CDs and vinyl copies of the album to the opportunity to join the band for a semi-private bonfire. You can even have Mike Hererra fly to your house where he’ll perform songs for a party with all of your friends! I love that the band labeled the premium “Party, Your House, Mike Will Be There,” a play on their hit song “Party, My House, Be There.”

MXPX have always been a personal favorite of mine and they definitely have a few songs on the soundtrack of my youth. I’ll never forget skateboarding with friends and jamming out to “Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo”. “Invitation to Understanding” is probably in my top 10 best songs ever written.

It’s been six years since MXPX’s last release “Plans Within Plans,” and I’m pleased to see the band putting together new material. Hopefully, we will see a new MXPX tour soon. I was so disappointed when they didn’t show up on the final cross country Warped Tour this year, but I’ll take an MXPX headlining run over a 30-minute Warped Tour set any day.

As of this post, there were still plenty of premium rewards left. Head to the Kickstarter page to donate and get some awesome swag!
